Formula 3 Race Car vs Nissan GT-R

Comparing a full blown race car to a production street car is kind of like comparing an F-18 Hornet to the Space Shuttle. Sure they both fly, and yes they’re both fast, but in the end both flying machines were constructed for two extremely different purposes. The above test compares a world championship Formula 3 race car with a bone stock Nissan GT-R street car. The Nissan is equipped with all-wheel drive and pumps out 485 hp as compared to the Formula 3′s 220 hp, but it also weighs 3-times as much. That weight, plus its lack of functional down force are the Nissan’s Achilles’ heel. Comparisons like this are nothing new, but I think it would have been more interesting to compare the Nissan’s time in the dry to the F3 cars time in the wet. At least then the Nissan would have had a fighting chance.
